Serves: 2-4 as a side dish | Time: 1 hour
In this dish the honey adds sweetness to cut any bitterness, and miso paste gives it a rich umami flavor. These roasted turnips and radishes can be served as a side dish, or would be a great element to have in a nourishing power bowl alongside other veggies, grains and proteins.
INGREDIENTS
- 1 lb scarlet turnips, watermelon radish, or a combination of the two
- 2 Tablespoons coconut oil
- 1 Tablespoon honey
- 1 Tablespoon miso paste
- 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes
- 1 teaspoon sesame seeds
- Sea salt to taste
DIRECTIONS
- Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Cut turnips and/or radish into wedges and arrange on a baking sheet.
- If the coconut oil is solidified, heat it until just melted. Mix coconut oil, honey, and miso paste in a bowl. Drizzle over the radish and turnip on the baking sheet, sprinkle the red pepper flakes over the top, and toss it all to coat.
- Roast uncovered for 30 minutes. Remove pan from oven. Toss in sesame seeds.
- Roast for an additional 10-15 minutes.
- Season with sea salt, if desired, and serve.
